We may be just a small group of people doing our best to craft delicious coffee here in northern Michigan, but the impact of our sustainable trading model reverberates beyond our region. Our purpose is to cultivate human potential and confront inequality within specialty coffee from an integrated and valued supply chain—a big vision to be sure, but one that we are constantly working towards. And in light of that purpose, recently Higher Grounds has been featured in a few different media outlets:

 1. The New York Times – “Congo’s Specialty Brews Look to Be the ‘Future of Coffee’”

NYT highlighted the third annual Saveur du Kivu in eastern Congo as having a significant positive impact on the region’s specialty coffee industry, quoting our founder/owner Chris Treter and referencing Higher Grounds.

2. 9&10 News – “Higher Grounds Coffee Shop Works to Pull Farmers From Poverty

A Northern Michigan news outlet shared the story of Higher Grounds and our vision.

3. Eat This Podcast – “Pushing Good Coffee
